Where to See Christmas Lights on 30A

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! December in South Walton is sunny, and while it may not feel like Winter, the festivities are in full force making Christmas at the beach a favorite time to visit. Glimpses of Christmas trees can be seen through windows, wreaths are hung on doors, and Christmas lights illuminate the streets. Luckily for us, mild Winter temperatures mean taking a stroll at night to enjoy the decorations and lights is easy and fun.

Rosemary Beach

Rosemary Beach is known for its elegance and pure beauty, but the town takes it a step further and turns into an idyllic and romantic winter wonderland when the sun goes down. Lights strung through old oak trees outline the North and South courtyards culminating with a huge and colorfully lit Christmas tree at the top. The entire town basks in a soft glow from the lights draped overhead.

Alys Beach

Alys Beach is very well known for its dramatic entrance on Highway 30A. The lines of tall palm trees are instantly recognizable, and even more so when they’re lit up at night. Every palm is wrapped to the top outlining either side of the street. A tall, illuminated tree sits near the center green lit up in silvers and golds. It truly is an extravagant tree for an extravagant town.

Seaside

The iconic Seaside square lights up in its entirety for the holidays. The Post Office is outfitted in holly, garland, and lights, and it’s classic bright red doors perfectly lend themselves to the Christmas spirit. Lit up palms surrounding the amphitheater make it an ethereal sight. A tall Christmas tree sits behind airstream row, and even the Coleman Beach Pavilion is adorned with lights.

Grand Boulevard

Just off the beaten path about a 15-minute drive away, Grand Boulevard shopping center lights up for the holidays. It’s well worth a trip to see the coastal white Christmas lights and see the festival of trees lined up in Grand Park. Twelve different area nonprofits participate in decorating a tree for display to not only spread cheer but also inform the public on their organizations. Stop by on Saturday afternoon for photos with Santa or come at night to enjoy the dazzling lights from the comfort of a horse-drawn carriage ride while Christmas carolers sing in the background.

Our white sandy beaches give a whole new meaning to a “white Christmas,” and our beloved 30A has no shortage of holiday cheer. Book a stay at one of our many South Walton properties and make a Christmas or New Years beach trip a new holiday tradition. Make a cup of hot chocolate, throw it in a thermos, and enjoy the crisp, cool night walking around and enjoying the sights. Adults and children alike will delight in the festive aura and show-stopping displays, and getting to enjoy it all together will truly make you remember what this season is all about. Happy Holidays from our beach to yours!
