30A Arts and Culture

Many people think of South Walton and 30A just for their sheer number of stunning beach locales, but there’s more to see here along 30A than just sugar-white sands and the glittering waves of the Gulf of Mexico.

South Walton has built an entire culture that reflects the serene natural beauty of our surroundings through incredible arts and culture organizations and events. Read on below to find out more about the 30A arts and culture scene!

The Vibrant Culture of 30A

From artists and musicians to theater productions and make-your-own-art studios, you’ll find a myriad of wonderful outlets for absorbing the local culture of 30A.

First started in Grayton Beach in 1989, the Cultural Arts Alliance of South Walton puts on amazing yearly festivals.

The 30A Songwriters Festival is held during Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend in January annually, and allows festival-goers to see live performances and attend workshops with famous songwriters from all over the world. This is a great opportunity to experience the 30A fine arts.

The ArtsQuest Fine Arts Festival is held in Sandestin during Mother’s Day weekend and showcases the creations of upwards of two hundred national and regional artists. This event marks the beginning of Art Week in South Walton, which also includes Digital Graffiti and the Seaside Writers Conference among other events.

Fashion enthusiasts will enjoy South Walton Fashion Week annually in October, and in November of each year, the Flutterby Children’s Arts Festival on the day before and of Veteran’s Day. A festival focused on the Monarch butterfly migration and children’s arts and crafts, this event is perfect for families visiting during the winter season.

Beyond these annual events, there is an eclectic mix of 30A art galleries and studios. Blue Mountain Beach has the Justin Gaffrey Gallery & Studio, while Seaside houses the Blue Giraffe gallery, the Newbill Collection by the Sea and Fired Up Paint-Your-Own Pottery. Newbill Collection is home to Contemporary American art, folk art, garden sculptures, photography, paintings, and more. Seagrove Beach to the east holds Big Mama’s Hula Girl Gallery.

Grayton Beach is home to Modus Photography and The Shard Shop, where visitors can buy and create their own collages made from painted canvas and glass. Classes are available starting at $40.00 for children ages six to thirteen years old and $85.00 for adults.

For those interested in live theater performances, the Emerald Coast Theatre Company are the actors to see for an awesome show.
