Philadelphia has cheesesteaks, Chicago has deep dish pizza, our neighbors in New Orleans have po'boys, and here on 30A - we have our fish tacos!
With seafood on our minds, we’ve rounded up our top spots for you to get your fish taco fix while you’re here by the beach.
Red Fish Taco- Blue Mountain Beach
Tucked in the Red Fish Village plaza near Trebeache is the gem that is Red Fish Taco. When hunger strikes after a day splashing on the beach walk up the street to Red Fish Taco for a cold drink and a quick meal. Their menu has the classics all while highlighting unique flavors like grilled avocado, crispy street tacos, and a variety of house-made sauces. We mean it when we say this chef serves up a mean fish taco.
Our recommendation: The fried crispy catfish tacos are made with always fresh, never frozen catfish that is delivered daily. This pair of two soft tacos are topped with chili lime aioli and crunchy cabbage. Grab a spicy cucumber margarita to wash it all down and then head back to the beach for more fun in the sun.
Seagrove Village Market Cafe- Seagrove Beach
A longtime favorite, “Serving deep fried love since 1949” Seagrove Village Market Cafe has been a much-loved staple in the 30A community. There is no shortage of good old southern hospitality at this casual cafe.
Our recommendation: Hands down, the Senora Anna’s grouper tacos are a must. Fresh, gulf grouper is grilled and seasoned to perfection and topped with pico de gallo and a sauce so heavenly that it must have been bestowed upon us from above- house made poblano lime tartar sauce. Try the collards and the fried okra as your sides to top off your hearty southern meal.
La Cocina- Seacrest Beach
La Cocina has been a family favorite along 30A for many years now. They just underwent a complete transformation and welcomed a new head chef who revamped the menu with some inspired and exciting flavors. In addition to a killer bar menu, La Cocina is quickly becoming the spot to grab trendy dishes like blistered shishito peppers, seafood ceviche, and Mexican street corn. Tacos are served a la carte, street taco style meaning you don’t just have to choose one.
Our recommendation: The Pescado Taco. Fresh gulf fish is either fried or grilled and topped with crisp house slaw, red chili aioli, and pineapple-jicama salsa. The texture from the slaw, heat from the aioli, and the sweetness of the pineapple all work together in matrimony to create the perfect bite. You obviously need to get the queso (Laco Style) as well, it is without rival the best queso you will find in the county, maybe even the state, maybe even the world…
