About

A Grayton Tradition -

‘A Grayton Tradition’ "The Washaway" is a historic beach house and a local treasure located in the heart of Grayton Beach. Built in the late 1800's by Capt. Gray and later used as the Coast Guard Headquarters for a cavalry unit during WWII, this home survived a major hurricane in 1926 (but was almost washed away), as well as standing strong during Hurricane Eloise in the late 1970's, and Hurricane Opal in the fall of 1995. It is a Grayton classic and centrally located just ½ block west of the famous Red Bar Restaurant, as well as numerous other dining and shopping amenities nearby.

Relax on wide, wraparound porches while enjoying gulf breezes and breath-taking views of the Gulf of Mexico and Western Lake. Located directly on the sugar sand, just one house off the beach, step back in time with the unique turn of the century floor plan that adds to the timeless appeal of Grayton's oldest home. An eight foot breezeway separates the kitchen and bathrooms from the core of the house, where the main living space is located giving this home a unique floor plan.
