Seaside was designed to be a picture-perfect town as a part of the New Urbanism city planning movement in the late 1970s, complete with streets made for walking and biking, colorful coastal homes, white picket fences, a neighborly ambiance, and a gorgeous location along the Gulf. It is a beach town so pristine and beautiful that it was used as the set of the classic late ‘90s Jim Carrey film, The Truman Show, as the manufactured-for-television town in which the title character lived. What to Know About Seaside Beach, Florida

The town of Seaside is located near Grayton Beach and Seagrove Beach, smack dab in the middle of Highway 30A. Here, you can stroll along the streets and look at the colorful homes as you make your way to Seaside Pavilion, the iconic town center beautifully designed to look out over the Gulf. Another great landmark to visit in town is the Truman House, the house where Jim Carrey’s character lived in the movie The Truman Show.

Seaside Beach is long and immaculate, connecting its various pavilions (including the previously-mentioned Seaside Pavilion) to each other. Around the town center, you’ll find a smattering of tasty restaurants and one-of-a-kind shops. Pick up a unique souvenir from The SEASIDE Style, Mercantile, or Amore By the Sea. Enjoy a meal at Great Southern Café, Shrimp Shack, Bud & Alley’s Pizza Bar, Meltdown on 30A, or Barefoot Barbeque. Grab coffee from Amavida Coffee and Tea, or an alcoholic drink at 45 Central or Bud & Alley’s. In particular, Bud & Alley’s is known for ringing in the sunset nightly, taking bets on the exact minute that the sun goes down behind the Gulf.

Nearby Seaside are breathtaking natural parks like Grayton Beach State Park and Point Washington State Forest. These expansive parks are home to dense forests, rare coastal dune lakes like Western Lake, and dozens of trails for hiking and biking. Western Lake is also ideal for boating, kayaking, canoeing, and stand-up paddleboarding.
